The government supports approval of legislation allowing marriage between individuals of the same sex, Secretary-General of the Executive Yuan Chen Mei-ling said in a press conference. The Taiwanese government on Monday expressed formal support for same-sex marriage on the island, a first in Asia, where no other country has made such unions legal.
